A word puzzle, such as an anagram or one in which clues are given in a set of verses.

A riddle; specifically, a riddle formed by the arbitrary or confused mingling of parts or elements, which have to be recombined in proper order for the answer.

A sort of riddle in which it is required to discover a chosen word from various combinations of its letters, or of some of its letters, which form other words; — thus, to discover the chosen word chatter form cat, hat, rat, hate, rate, etc.
