ohia

One of several trees, but particularly the Malay apple, Caryophyllus Malaccensis. (See Malay apple, under Malay.) It is often called ohia-ai (edible ohia), in distinction from ohia-lehua (flowering ohia), Metrosideros polymorpha, a related tree. See lehua.

Either of two trees of the myrtle family native to Hawaii, the lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) and the Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense).
