reoxidation

The taking up again of, or a second time combining with, oxygen: as in the case of the hemoglobin of the blood when, in passing through the pulmonary circulation, it renews the supply of oxygen from the air to be used up in combining with the carbon and hydrogen of the tissues of the body at large.
