A broad-spectrum antibiotic, C₁₄H₂₄N₂O₇, obtained from a species of gram-negative bacteria (Streptomyces spectabilis) or produced synthetically and used in its hydrochloride form especially in the treatment of penicillin-resistant gonorrhea.
